About Surrey
Because of population growth, Surrey has become one of the best places in B.C. to invest in real estate. The proximity of the city to the Fraser River and the fact that there is a high concentration of high-quality residential and commercial buildings in this area has made it a popular destination for investors.
Immigration to Surrey has increased dramatically since the 1980s, creating a more ethnically and linguistically diverse city. Surrey is the second largest city in British Columbia and has over 40% of its population who speak a mother tongue other than English. Surrey hosts the huge Surrey Vaisakhi Parade and Celebration, held annually in April
Anyone who has considered visiting Canada is probably looking for a big city like Vancouver, but the metro cities around Vancouver can be more promising than you might realize. Although more known for its rich history, the city still has much to offer, which is why it has the second largest population in the Vancouver area, welcoming hundreds of new arrivals each month. Surrey is currently Canada's fastest growing city, with a population of nearly half a million people, offering plenty of room for growth, a number that is growing year on year. With an expected doubling of the population by 2041, Surrey has already overtaken Vancouver in terms of population growth and is expected to absorb more residents than any other city in B.C. in the next few years.
Surrey's public transport, like the rest of Metrolink, is operated by TransLink, which offers frequent bus services to and from Surrey from other metro and rail communities. The Expo Line from downtown Vancouver to Surrey is served via Surrey Central Station on the Expo Line and the South Shore Line from Vancouver International Airport to the City of Vancouver. Located in the heart of Surrey's central business district, north of the city centre and west of downtown Vancouver and the Fraser River, it is the second largest city in BC after Burnaby, with a population of 2.5 million.
